The Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo is a fantastic little gem, well-maintained and packed with things to see. Lemurs, meerkats, raccoons, flamingos, tortoises, a small aquarium, and a dinosaur garden keep kids engaged for hours — and flamingo feeding, where they hand-feed pellets, was an absolute highlight for mine. The indoor children's play area is a rainy-day lifesaver, with giant lego blocks, a large train track, and tubes that shoot balls and colored cloth into the air; my toddlers were happily occupied for over an hour. There's also a treehouse-style structure with bridges kids can run across. Bonus: Rinconada Park and its playground are right next door (a real kid favorite), plus the pool and children's library, so you can easily turn this into a full day. Plenty of great nearby food options too!
