Altars have been used throughout time and across cultures to create sacred spaces, sites of offering and memory, or to connect with our ancestors. While these practices are diverse and have different histories and meanings, they share a common thread: creating an altar where memory, love, and connection can be expressed. Participants will create a small altar or remembrance display to honor a loved one, ancestor, pet, or friend using provided craft materials and personal photos or mementos. We welcome all backgrounds and beliefs and is facilitated by Dr. Juliet Garcia Nuñez Schiller. No artistic experience is needed. Please consider bringing a shoebox or small box for your take-home altar. A limited number of boxes will be available, while supplies last. Please bring photos of loved ones or we can print them at the library. ADA Accommodation Request
